Happy Karwa Chauth and Organising iPhone's!

Firstly I’d like to say Happy Karwa Chauth to anyone celebrating this today. It is a real honour to know that someone is will to not drink and starve all day for your good health and I’m sure all your husbands appreciate it even if you don’t realise they do.

I got an iPhone a few months ago and I have been using it to stay organised. I like having one of everything, one diary, one set of contacts, one e-mail account, one to do list… I don’t like having lots of different versions all over the place that I need to manually update.

Firsly you will need a Gmail or Google Apps account and an iPhone. Then here is what you do:

Set up Exchange on your iPhone

This will sync your e-mail, your contacts and your main calendar (you can do secondary calendars later).

Set up calendar for contacts birthdays.

This calendar will show you birthdays for all people in your contacts list (for whom you have entered their birthday). Having one contacts list will really make it easier to add birthdays too. If you add a contact or a birthday to an existing contact on your iPhone then it will automatically add to this calendar!

I have also used these interesting calendars to add UK Public holidays.

Set up which calendars you want to sync:

I sync my main calendar, birthdays and public holidays. Now I always know what is going on.

I also use “Google Calendar Sync” to sync my work Outlook Calendar with Google Calendar. I really do now have everything all in one place!

Use the above link to have Outlook and Google Calendar synced in 2 minutes or less!

Stay organised!
